Traveling

I’ve been traveling for almost a year taking time out of “working life” to explore some new parts of the world.

The first stop was a Koom martial arts centre near Marrakesh, Morocco. We trained in various disciplines of martial arts and discussed spiritual topics and chanted and meditated in the evenings. It was interesting to be led by a wise Sufi man called Shem. Putting your body through 4 trainings a day was intense but very rewarding as being physically fit is so important to me. To me feeling strong, capable and flexible keeps the energy flowing freely in our bodies allowing an ease of growth in our spirit along with a confidence in our vessel. We have capability beyond what we usually experience in our daily lives and sometimes I think it’s great to experience something different to the norm. To me martial arts brings us deep inside our spirit in so many ways that I highly recommend these practices to everyone. It tests our mind, bodies and spirit in ways that I find very rewarding.

My sister came to Morocco for a week and we visited the Atlas Mountains. They were stunning and I highly recommend both the culture and the beauty of the mountains and their people. We had a lot of fun “running” up the mountain with our guide who happened to be a champion athlete of the region. My sister showed her strength by overcoming her fear of the steepness keeping her focus on the beauty of her environment. I, off course was tickled by her response as she literally climbed on all fours up these jagged peaks…..but it was all worth it for both of us as the views and vistas of the mountains appeared. It was a inspiring experience with an amazing guide that we will both remember.

Next stop was Paris, a city I have never been to before even though I have visited France many times. This was a beautiful trip to visit a soul sister with my mum and biological sister. We were very blessed to have my friend take us around Paris and givie us many magical experiences including having a friend of hers sing opera in one of the art studios. It was a privilege to listen to someone expressing themselves through their voice in such an intimate setting.

This city is like walking through a beautiful crafted museum and it touched me in ways that I never thought a city could. Now I understand why there are so many stories based in Paris. My friend herself is an incredible artist along with being a “wealth of an energy field”. I don’t know how else to describe her! She is very unique and a wonderful soul who I love deeply. She brings a lot of honesty and clarity into my life and for that I am ever grateful. She made our trip very special!

From Paris I moved on to Andalusia in Spain visiting old university friends who run an olive farm, have work aways, run retreats in their yoga and spiritual studio. Wow! What a rich experience with such authentic, comfortable old friends. Friends where you can truly be you in every sense of the word, friends who you can bare your soul with, laugh with, work with and it feels like a luxurious blanket of love. My soul felt very nourished here whilst working amongst the olive trees and walking their HUGE dog daily up the mountain. We meditated, chanted and practised physical energy movement. We laughed a lot and I spent time with my soul sister around the pool chatting as us women do whilst sipping drinks and nibbling on delicious healthy food. Pure bliss!

Now, I have to add another stop or two that I missed, and how could I……….I traveled to Ireland to meet another beautiful soul before going to Morocco. What a blessing to spend time, just her and I chatting and hiking around the lovely Ireland. Her family were away from home at the time so we got to spend some cherished moments talking and discovering some parts of this incredible country. It felt very much like home as we wandered the hills and beaches in her area. My friend has wisdom that you can’t help but listen to. She is one of the most disciplined people I know in the healing field and her work in breathwork journeys is profound and personally given me the biggest personal breakthroughs of my life.

I also spent time in England with a very giving woman who is involved with humanitarian work. We spent time cooking, chatting and discovering the organic cafes, lakes and favorite green places in the surrounding area. This friend is also very wise and selfless and her purpose in life is to help bring the planet to something that we all want. Its amazing how seamlessly and smoothly things operate when we are of like minds. I love that she is on this earth doing work for the world that is ultra special and I take my hat off to her dedication.

Returning to Scotland for the festive season was a lot of fun. Catching up with family and friends from my youth is always special and takes a lot of chatting and listening to “catchup” stories. Christmas time has a feeling around it that is unexplainable, that special character of the festive season is one that I’ve thought about a few times and can’t put my finger on why it’s so special…..but it is and I felt very blessed to be home and enjoying the spirit around the season.

Next stop was Vietnam which will have its own section as my friend and I stayed in this unique country for two months……to be continued….
